The Great Well-Known and Unknown (Poland)

Youth Culture Club in Rybnik invites everyone to enter the 11th International Art Competition "The Great Well-Known and Unknown".

The term of works submission - until March 1, 2011.

AIMS:

  • To present children’s and teenagers’ creativity,
  • To popularise knowledge of art history and familiarise participants with the great artists,
  • To share artistic, methodological and aesthetic experience,
  • To develop sensitivity to art among young people.

THIS YEAR’S TOPIC IS “PAUL KLEE – A WALK WITH COLOUR”

This is one more year of our common journey in the world of art and artists. Together we will get to know another artist and through our paintings we will share our knowledge. This year’s artist is a Swiss and German painter, poet and violinist PAUL KLEE.

Enter his rich world of painting and get to know canvas that are a perfect example of early 20th century art. Meet the expressionistic and abstract artist who starts a lyrical dialogue with music. Meet the painter who creates colourful and charming symphonies both on canvas and on paper.

Klee is a versatile and outstanding personality of contemporary art. Each of you can find different Paul, he can be a musically gifted child, an inquisitive student of the Academy of Fine Arts, a romantic poet using not only a brush but combining different styles and techniques, an innovative graphic artist or an original lecturer at Bauhaus.

DO NOT COPY THE ARTIST’S WORKS – let them be an inspiration for your own ideas!!!

PARTICIPANTS’AGE: 5-21(The age groups: up to 7, 8-11, 12-15, 16-21)

SIZE: min 30x42 cm - max 70x100 cm

TECHNIQUE: painting, drawing, graphic, mixed techniques

DEADLINE FOR DELIVERING WORKS: 1st March 2011

Works should be clearly signed at the back and contain the following information:

  • Author’s full name and age,
  • Institution’s address, e-mail and telephone number,
  • Teacher’s full name,
  • Teacher’s e-mail and telephone number.

PLEASE DO NOT ROLL OR FRAME THE WORKS!

The prize giving ceremony together with exhibition will take place in May 2011.

ALL THE AUTHORS OF THE AWARDED WORKS WILL BE INFORMED BY POST OR TELEPHONE.

The organizer becomes the owner of all the works so they will not be sent back.
